On September 9–10, the Ukrainian Wind Energy Forum 2025 took place in Lviv, organized by the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association. The event became a key platform for discussing the future of wind energy in Ukraine, bringing together government officials, business leaders, and international partners.
A highlight of the Forum was the speech delivered by Mykola Gerasymenko, Founder and CEO of MCL Group, during the session dedicated to wind project development.
🔹 Regulatory Framework
Mykola Herasymenko emphasized that the classical procedure — including the development of a detailed spatial plan, strategic environmental assessment, and public hearings — remains the most reliable pathway for projects. While temporary solutions may accelerate processes, they also create significant risks for both investors and developers.
🔹 Community Engagement
MCL Group actively promotes a model of “social contracts,” which ensures direct financing of local development programs — from school renovations to infrastructure upgrades. This approach builds long-term partnerships with communities and strengthens trust in projects.
🔹 Environmental Impact Assessment and Standards
High-quality, year-round biodiversity monitoring is essential for project legitimacy and a prerequisite for attracting international financing. MCL Group applies European methodologies, including those of the Scottish Wildlife Trust, ensuring that every project is bankable from the very first step.
🔹 Used Turbine Segment
Particular attention was given to the role of used turbines in distributed generation. Through meticulous technical analysis, collaboration with international partners, and hands-on experience, MCL Group proves that used does not mean outdated.
“Wind energy should not only provide the country with clean power but also create tangible value for communities and investors. Sustainable growth is only possible when every project complies with international standards and takes into account the interests of local partners,” — highlighted Mykola Gerasymenko.
The CEO’s contribution at one of the year’s most important industry events once again underlined MCL Group’s active role in shaping the Ukrainian wind energy market. With its professional expertise and strategic vision, MCL Group continues to be a trusted partner for international investors, local communities, and public institutions.
